Research Assistant in Transport Psychology

At the Transport division, we work on analyzing impacts of incentives and policies on the use of transport systems. Our research supports decision makers to create intelligent and sustainable transport solutions and meet the futures transportation challenges particularly related to congestion, the environment and safety. The division consist of five research groups: Transport economics, Transport Psychology, Transport Demand, Transport and Route Choice, and Machine Learning. The Research Assistant will be affiliated with the Transport Psychology group, but a number of tasks will be carried out in collaboration with the other research groups, as well as external national and international stakeholders.


The Research Assistant will be working in the field of transport psychology. Our research focuses on the interaction between the individual, the society and the physical environment. Based on cognitive, behavioural and social psychology, we examine the impact of e.g. risk perception, attitude and norms on road user behaviour. Our research topics include (but are not limited to) risk-taking behaviour, new modes of transport, traffic offenses, traffic culture and mobility. Our group also develops interventions to change transport-related attitudes and behaviour. In addition, we conduct research-based evaluations in terms of legislative changes, changes in transport infrastructure, safety measures, campaigns and other measures in the transport field. We apply and develop our research-based knowledge in connection to public sector support and actively exchange our research results with society in general. Responsibilities and tasks

We expect the Research Assistant to actively support scientific advice in the area of road user behaviour and road safety and will be involved in different tasks such as: 


  • Supporting the development of research based solutions to current and expected future challenges

  • Providing research based evaluations of suggested changes and interventions in the area.

  • Ad hoc and long-term interaction with relevant national stakeholders

  • Tasks to ensure a wider knowledge exchange with society.



Candidates should have a masters degree in psychology, engineering or equivalent.


  • You must have a strong interest in providing research based high quality scientific advice on a broad range of topics, and to contribute to the wider knowledge exchange with society.

  • Proven abilities to conduct research based scientific advise as well as proven abilities to disseminate research results to a broad audience of stakeholders, written and/or orally, is an advantage.

  • Experience in analyzing quantitative as well as qualitative data is an advantage.

  • You have excellent communication skills, fluent written and oral Danish. Danish language skills are required at a level where you are able to communicate (written and orally) with relevant Danish stakeholders about complex issues.

  • You have the ability to work results-driven and effectively towards external and self-imposed deadlines.

  • You have the ability to learn fast and an interest in providing an overview of a new and complex field.

  • You are driven by an interest in exploring and developing research based solutions to behavioural challenges in the area of road safety and human behavior.

  • You thrive on collaboration and teamwork and take personal responsibility for your work.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 1 year.
